.....This year the board of the San Luis Obispo Poetry Festival, selected Dian Sousa from the nominees to be the 10th Annual Poet Laureate for the 24th Annual San Luis Obispo Poetry Festival and the city of San Luis Obispo for 2008.
.....Dian has been a fixture on the central coast poetry scene since moving to
the area in the late seventies. She has been a poet teacher and county
coordinator for California Poet Teachers In The Schools program and an
active board member of the Annual San Luis Obispo Poetry Festival /Corners
of the Mouth. Over the years her poems have appeared in such literary
journals as
ARTLIFE, Askew, Asylum, Bakunin, Chiron Review, CQ, Solo Café, Café Solo and
others.
Dian has published two books of poems, Sunday Blood and Jamaica Rum: Poems
of Spiritual
Schizophrenia and Lullabies for the Spooked and Cool.
Let's congratulate Dian and wish her well on her tenure as the 10th Annual
Poet Laureate for the City of San Luis Obispo.
.....Dian will kick off the 24th Annual San Luis Obispo Poetry Festival on
Friday, November 9th, 2007 at the San Luis Obispo Art Center, where she will
be reading with past Poet Laureate
Rosemary Wilvert.
